Educational ProgramsLecture/DemoAt CFP we believe that true appreciation for Flamenco, as an art form, begins with understanding what Flamenco is about. That is why we designed our very successful ÒLecture/DemoÓ program, intended to give students throughout western Pennsylvania the opportunity to learn about the history of Flamenco, see a Flamenco performance, and experience first-hand the complexities of the dance form. Lecture/Demos are 45min. long, and can be adapted to different age groups. For more information or to schedule a lecture/demo at your institution ResidenciesThe Residency Program is designed to bring Flamenco to schools and colleges throughout Pittsburgh. In this way, giving students the opportunity to experience and learne about Flamenco first-hand. Through this program, one or more of our dancers will spend a scheduled amount of time in your institution developing a project with students and/or teachers, that typically ends with the production of a public performance where students/teachers can show what they learned. Residencies are designed specifically for your needs, and the possibilities range from teaching a single dance for a school recital, to a full collaboration towards the production of a full-length show. Residencies can also be targeted to a more comprehensive program where history, dance, music, and language arts can be integrated into the curriculum. For more information or to develop the curriculum for a residency, Workshops & ShowsWorkshops are designed to give students and/or teachers the opportunity to learn some of the basics of Flamenco dance and music. Typically a workshop is a one hour session where one of our dancers teaches basic technique and some steps from a choreography. This could develop into a residency program, or just be a one time experience. Our students and company members often go to schools and colleges for short performances (typically 10 to 20min. long), to give students, teachers, and staff a taste of the beauty of Flamenco. Workshops and shows can be adapted to the specific needs or curricular requirements of your organization. We are happy to work with teachers to develop programs that will complement the subjects they are covering in the classroom. For more information or to schedule a workshop or show, |
